About the Educator:
My name is Oleksandra, but I go by Sasha. I am originally from Ukraine, and my love for children, creativity, and learning has led me to pursue a career working with children here in Canada.
I have a university education in Theatre and Film, which has helped me develop a strong foundation in creativity, communication, storytelling, movement, and self-expression. I love finding ways to bring these skills into my work with children, encouraging them to explore their imaginations, express themselves freely, and develop confidence in their own abilities.
Caring for children brings me great joy. I strive to be a patient, kind, calm, and responsible educator who helps every child feel safe, heard, respected, and supported. One of the most rewarding parts of working with children is watching their curiosity unfold as they discover new things, develop their own interests, and become increasingly independent.
I am very enthusiastic about my role as a Responsible Adult at Fern Flower - Nature School and excited to continue growing in the field of early childhood education. In the near future, I hope to pursue my Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certification and continue expanding my knowledge, skills, and experience. I look forward to learning, taking on new responsibilities, and growing as an educator while supporting children's development, creativity, and love of nature.
At Fern Flower - Nature School, I have the opportunity to bring together my love for children and my appreciation for the natural world. I believe that spending time outdoors offers children meaningful opportunities to explore, take on new challenges, develop problem-solving skills, and build a lasting connection with nature.
Philosophy:
I believe every child is unique, with their own personality, interests, strengths, and individual way of learning. Children learn best when they have the freedom to play, explore, experiment, ask questions, and discover the world through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
To me, an educator is not simply a teacher, but also a guide, a supporter, and a partner in each child's learning journey. I strive to create an environment where children feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings, making mistakes, trying again, and discovering what they are capable of achieving.
Creativity holds a special place in my approach to early childhood education. With my background in theatre and film, I enjoy incorporating storytelling, imaginative play, movement, art, and role-playing into children's experiences. These creative opportunities allow children to explore different perspectives, communicate their ideas, develop their imaginations, and express their individuality.
I believe childhood should be filled with wonder, creativity, kindness, and joy. My goal is to help children develop confidence in themselves, appreciation for others, and the courage to explore the world around them at their own pace.
At Fern Flower - Nature School, I value the opportunity to support children's natural curiosity through outdoor adventures, open-ended play, and everyday discoveries. Whether we are exploring the forest, observing the changing seasons, creating something together, or following a child's latest fascination, I believe there is always something meaningful to learn.
