Tip: Share and Display Your Yearly Calendar

Keeping parents informed about closure dates and events helps them plan alternative care and stay engaged with your daycare. Here's how to manage and communicate your yearly calendar effectively:

Create and Share a Yearly Calendar:
  • Include all closure dates (e.g., holidays, vacations, training days) and major events (e.g., parent-teacher meetings, field trips).

  • Distribute the calendar to parents before the start of the new year to allow ample planning time.

Display the Calendar in the Classroom:
  • Post the calendar prominently on the parent board or near the entrance for easy access.

Send Monthly Newsletters:
  • Use newsletters to remind parents about upcoming closures and events for that month.

  • Highlight key dates to ensure they’re not overlooked.

Email Reminders for Closures:
  • Send an email 1-2 weeks before each closure as an additional reminder.

  • Include details about the closure date, reason, and any special instructions.
