About the Volunteer:

Hello! I’m Christine Lucas, a proud volunteer here at Fern Flower - Nature School. My journey to this magical little corner of the world has been full of love, grit, and a deep connection to nature.

Years ago, I was a mother to a very tiny preemie—an experience that brought a whirlwind of challenges and blessings. Raising my child through those early days taught me strength, compassion, and the power of resilience. Life carried me through a long and fulfilling career in dentistry, but my heart has always been drawn to natural living, nourishing food, and the simplicity of the great outdoors.

I grew up surrounded by the misty forests and wild ocean breezes of Vancouver Island. After some time spent on the mainland, we returned to the Island in 2021 — and it felt like coming home. Since then, Fern Flower has become a big part of my life, and I’m endlessly inspired by this vibrant, nature-loving community.

You’ll often find me kayaking on quiet waters, foraging for treasures on forest walks, or simply soaking in the beauty of the world with bare feet and a big smile. I’m a whole-food enthusiast, a family-centered soul, and a nature baby through and through.

Volunteering here isn’t just about helping — it's about growing alongside these curious little minds and rediscovering the wonder in the everyday. I’m so grateful to be part of this beautiful, earthy, heart-full place.
